Operation First Response

Needs Your Help!

Operation First Response is in need of

homemade cot sized quilts to be included

with the First Response Backpacks that

are sent to the American military hospitals and combat hospitals in Iraq.

OFR also has a need for quilts to be sent

to the Fisher House at Brooke Army

Medical hospital in Texas and to the

Ft. Wainwright base in Fairbanks, Alaska.

Please help to send a soft touch

of home to Wounded Heroes!

WE ARE IN GREAT NEED OF QUILTS!

FISHER HOUSE THANK YOU

TO OUR QUILTERS

Please make sure the cot quilt is a

useable size.

The 45" x 60" is a size that will go

nicely around the shoulders of our wounded Heroes.

We love all that each and every

quilter sends but we want to

encourage you all to make quilts

that are no smaller than the

45" x 60" measurement.

Thank you all and bless you for the

loving and caring spirit that is shown

with each and every quilt.

Quilts which measures approximately

45" x 60" is a nice useable size for our

wounded Heroes, (this is only a suggested

measurement).  The 45" x 60" size uses

2yds. for the top and 2yds. for the bottom

of the quilt...an easy to remember

measurement!

Use either cotton batting or poly batting

(low loft).

Sewers have used cotton fabrics, fleece,

cotton knits or combinations of textures

and types of fabrics to make the quilts

they make nice and soft.  O.F.R. has

received the 'no-sew' edge knotted fleece

quilts or sewn quilts tied off with wool or

cotton yarn in a grid pattern, others are

pieced and hand quilted.  Crocheted or

knitted afghans are wonderful too!

Truly, do what you would like.

Please remember that these brave

men and women have sacrificed so

much for each of us and a good

quality quilt is what they deserve!

Please be sure to make a tag with your

name & address and attach to the corner

of your quilt so the recipient knows who

the maker is.  This allows the recipient or

one of their family members to send a note

to you if they choose.

If you have questions please
