Marine Sgt Robert Thomas has served two tours of duty in Iraq. His job was to disarm IED's and roadside bombs. Because of his bravery he saved the lives of many of our servicemen and women. On his last tour of duty a roadside bomb went off causing a traumatic brain injury (TBI). Sgt. Thomas contacted OFR in August with a request for assistance in purchasing a new furnace and air conditioning unit for his home. The spring rains in Illinois had flooded his basement and destroyed his furnace. The estimates for replacing the unit were at a cost of $6,000.00 dollars. A price Sgt. Thomas was not able to afford with a wife, a three-year-old daughter and new baby son.
After three months of contacting heating and cooling companies in and around his home of Castleton Illinois. P.J. Sesker-Green Director of Marketing and Public Relations for Operation First Response, finally found a company that agreed to donate a heating unit.
Mary Joyce from Lenox industries told P.J. it would be an honor to help this deserving Marine and his family. Not only did they donate the heating and air conditioning unit they also contacted a company to donate the installation. Ki Wirth Inc. of Geneseo Illinois sent installers Mark Cheek and Tom Carney to the Thomas home to install the unit. Mike Kennedy territory manager for Lenox and Lee Eft the Des Moines District Manager arranged to ship the unit to Sgt. Thomas.
On November 19th 2009 P.J. Sesker-Green made the trip to Castleton Illinois to be there for the installation of the heating and air conditioning unit. The Thomas family is now cozy warm in their home this winter because of the kind hearts from Lenox industries, and Wirth Mechanical Contractors.
Sgt Thomas stated, "My family and I will now have a wonderful warm holiday because of the dedication of P.J. Sesker-Green and every one at Operation First Response. They are truly thankful for OFR 's help.
