Ocean City, NJ – September 1, 2011 – On Saturday, October 1, Ocean City Home Bank and Operation First Response, a nonprofit organization that provides financial assistance to wounded soldiers and their families, present the third annual Walk for the Wounded on the Ocean City Boardwalk.  Registration for the Walk takes place at the Ocean City Music Pier at 10:00 a.m., and the three-mile Walk begins at 11:30 a.m.

From musicians and sports celebrities to local business owners, volunteers and sponsors have come forward to support the event.  Phil Martelli, Head Coach of the Saint Joseph’s Hawks men’s basketball team, will serve as the Walk emcee, and The Tidal Wave Band will provide entertainment during registration.

Additionally, many area businesses and civic organizations have already committed to sponsor the Walk, including Medal of Honor Sponsor Ocean City Home Bank, Silver Star Sponsors Shore Memorial Hospital, Sandler O’Neill and the Ocean City American Legion, Bronze Sponsors Kilpatrick Stockton, McMahon Agency, The Crab Trap, and AtlantiCare, Purple Heart Sponsors Print Mail, Crest Savings Bank, Ford Scott Accounting, Angerman Landscaping, Tower Financial, Calvi Electric, and Piccini Restaurant, and in-kind sponsors Millennium Radio Group, East Coast Roofing and Siding, and The Tahiti Inn.

“With the contributions from these community-minded organizations, we are well on our way to reaching a three-year total of more than $100,000 for Operation First Response,” said Steven Brady, President and Chief Executive Officer of Ocean City Home Bank, “and with the help of Coach Phil Martelli, who is an outstanding public speaker, and The Tidal Wave Band, who are great entertainers, the event is bound to be as enjoyable as it is meaningful and successful.”

Although much sponsorship has already been purchased, some sponsorship opportunities are still available.  Organizations may also show their support for Operation First Response by purchasing ad space in the event dedication booklet, and individuals may help the cause by registering to participate in the Walk.

All proceeds from Walk for the Wounded will benefit Operation First Response, a national 501 c(3) nonprofit organization.  Of every dollar raised for Operation First Response, 90 cents is donated to wounded soldiers and their families in times of crisis.
