OCEAN CITY, NEW JERSEY — A ride special at Playland’s Castaway Cove is set to benefit Operation First Response, a nonprofit that assists wounded soldiers and their families.

The amusement park at 1020 Boardwalk in Ocean City will offer $15 wristbands for unlimited rides from 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10 as part of the park’s fourth annual Family Day. All proceeds from wristband sales benefit Operation First Response.

The organization provides services and aid to soldiers recovering from injuries or illness. The organization helps with recovery and transitioning soldiers from the military to civilian life.

Financial aid varies, as each case is based on individual need. The organization helps with necessities such as rent, utilities, vehicle payments, groceries, clothing and travel expenses, according to a press release from Ocean City Home Bank, which has coordinated a number of fundraisers on the island for Operation First Response.

The eighth annual Walk for the Wounded, to take place on the city’s boardwalk Saturday, Sept. 24, also benefits the organization.
