SUGAR LAND, Texas — At the Galveston County Community Action Council, they get calls every day for help, but when they heard about World War II veteran Walter Dashiell’s story they wanted to do something.
We first met Dashiell in September. His daughter called us for help, after not getting anywhere with the the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Since we started making calls, the VA approved Dashiell for 20 hours a week of home health aide.
“We should do better, we should do better,” said Sonia Boone, PhD, interim executive director at Galveston County Community Action Council.
The  council serves four counties specifically:
- Galveston
- Fort Bend
- Brazoria
- Wharton
