The ninth annual Walk for the Wounded will be held Saturday, Sept. 30 on the Ocean City Boardwalk.

The 3-mile walk begins and ends at the Music Pier at Moorlyn Terrace. Registration begins 8:30 a.m. in front of the Music Pier.

There will be a ceremony honoring soldiers at 9:30 a.m., and the walk will begin at 10.

Proceeds benefit Operation First Response, a nonprofit organization that provides financial and emotional support to wounded soldiers from all branches of the military and their families. The organization provides services from the onset of the injury or illness, through the recovery period, and for the assimilation from military to civilian life.

Financial assistance helps cover basics such as groceries, clothing, mortgage, rent, utilities and vehicle payments.

Anyone who raises $50 or more through the Walk for the Wounded will receive a free long-sleeve T-shirt. Any child who raises $10 or more will receive a wristband for free unlimited rides at Gillian’s Wonderland Pier from 1-5 p.m.
